here are some beautiful pictures my sister took during her week on Corfu, after helping me here at the hospital  with my husband (who is back home today and recovery is proceeding well! ) .

( just in case you might want to visit the place...it is the seaside village Agios Stefanos on the very north/west corner of the island of Corfu in the Ionian sea! )

so weit..so gut! ......dann hoerte ich es rascheln am Arbeitstisch.....

Praline and Caramel were busy....o, dear ,they were saying : Do you really think we are not coming?????
Praline und Caramel schienen was zu machen...sie sagten : Glaubst du wirklich wir wuerden nicht mitkommen????

yes...they had their things ready already ...and wanted a new outfit! see for yourselves! :) 
ja, sie hatten ihre Sachen schon fertig....und wollten aber neue Kleidung! ...aber das koennt ihr ja jetzt selber sehen! :) 

and i thought ..i would have a relaxing holiday... :) 
und ich dachte, das wird ein ruhiger Urlaub! :)

These are place-mats "keeping summer  a little longer! a new idea...a nice photo, printing, plastic-cover...and some summer for winter! Or a nice picture of Praline? i made several, more to come when i am back! They will also go to my shop!

Das sind Platz-sets "noch ein bisschen Sommer" ! eine neue Idee...ein schoenes Foto, drucken, Plastikbezug...und schon hat man im Winter Sommer! ..oder ein schoenes Foto von Praline? ich hab Verschiedene gemacht, mehr dann dazu wenn ich wieder da bin! sie sind auch zum Verkauf!

dann..glaube ich, ich werde "suechtig"!..diese Waescheklammer-Figuerchen sind  so niedlich, einfach zu machen, es braucht nicht viel Zeit! :) ...hier kommt das Naechste!

ja, ich war etwas eifersuechtig auf Mini-Jazzis Kreuzfahrt...ich muss auch ans Meer! Ihr werdet dann die Neuigkeiten aus Corfu gesendet bekommen! 

i do miss Mini Jazzi...hope she can strech her legs somewhere!:)
ich vermisse wirklich Mini-Jazzi, hoffe sie kann wenigstens irgendwo mal die Beine strecken! :)

Somebody totally stranger liked my phantasy scene "reading in the woods!"..happy about that ....exciting to see that! 

Jemand total Fremde hat meine PhantasieSzene "Lesen im Wald" herausgesucht und zeigt sie weiter! Freue mich drueber und ...ist ja aufregend!! :)

...the white tiny mugs are nice, too! the map is foldable (and unfoldable..!) , with map/pictures on both sides! size 6x8 cm , can be made on order! ( already making some for friends on Corfu who run another little hotel!) 

die weissen kleinen Becher sind auch schoen! 
die Karte ist faltbar, mit Karte/Bildern auf beiden Seiten. Die Groesse ist 6x8cm, koennen auf Bestellung gemacht werden. ( bin schon an der naechsten Auflage, fuer Freunde dort, die ein anderes, kleines Hotel haben!).

couldn't do without ...Corfu!! ;)
i am trying to get them more even and better...today i tried "rolling " the clay around a small piece of plastic drinking straw...i cut off  a piece in the size of a mug...and that worked much easier! Next try tomorrow ..to get them smoother! :)

ich versuche, die Becher besser und schoener hinzubekommen...und hatte heute den Ton um ein kleines Stueck abgeschnittenen Plastik-Trinkhalm "gewickelt! Das ging viel einfacher dann! Nun muss ich sie noch glatterhinkriegen...dazu gehts dann morgen weiter! :)

If you don't know the books by Gerald Durrell...."My family and other animals" ...wonderfull summer reading...and about Corfu (of course!) :)
It is a true story about childhood years on Corfu , amazing and wonderfully told- with great humor and many funny scenes. My love for Corfu has a lot to do with this book, as i myself also had the chance to live through magical summer vacation on Corfu as a child, far away from "civilisation"  and rainy months in Germany!
Through the books by G.Durrell ( there are quite a lot and all of them wonderfull) there is a lot of interesting stuff to learn about nature-all described in such an interesting way that even if one is not a "nature-fanatic" it is ever so interesting to read! AND you get into the Corfu-Mood, which has not changed much over the years!

my mother's favourite tree! In our home we had a beautiful painting of such a tree! This is the story:

R. Godfrey Rivers

Under the jacaranda 1903

Under the jacaranda 1903 has been one of the best loved works in the
 Queensland Art Gallery since it entered the Collection in 1903.
 Godfrey Rivers completed the painting 13 years after he arrived
 in Australia from the United Kingdom.

The work depicts Rivers and Miss Selina Bell, who later became
his wife, taking tea under the shade of a jacaranda tree in full bloom.
 The tree was a landmark in Brisbane's Botanic Gardens, which adjoined
 the grounds of the Brisbane Technical College where Rivers taught
 from 1891 to 1915.

It was almost certainly the first jacaranda to be grown in
 Australia. Walter Hill, the Gardens' Superintendent, planted it in 1864.
 It remained in the Gardens until 1979, when it was blown over
during a cyclone ― part of the trunk is now located at the
 offices of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens.

With jacarandas now growing in most Brisbane suburbs,
 many the progeny of this first tree, Under the jacaranda may
 be considered a quintessential image .
