A little story for Mother's Day Eine kleine Geschichte zum Muttertag

i am posting last's year poem again...i just like it so much! In memory of my mother

You can see it in their eyes,
in tender hugs and long good-byes,
a love that only moms and daughters know.
You can see it in their smiles,
through passing years and changing styles,
a friendship that continually seems to grow.
You can see it in their lives,
the joy each one of them derives,
in just knowing that the other one is there...
To care and to understand,
lend an ear or hold a hand,
and to celebrate the memories they share.

Once upon a memory
Someone wiped away a tear
Held me close and loved me,
Thank you, Mother dear.

And here is the little story, which is very moving!
"a small gesture, full of kindness"

Some days ago, i read the above story on the modern mini blog. it is not about minis, but about kindness in life!  go to the blog please, and read the story as i haven't managed to contact there in order to publish it here!
It is the story of a simple taxidriver, who takes an old lady from her home , on her last -as he realizes- way through town!
Why posting this on Mother's day?
because ... a small gesture, full of kindness can make a big difference!
Some years ago, when my mother was in her last days , i  also went through the process with her ,  having to say Goodbyes to friends, places, very dear ones , knowing that so little time was left.
Just a very few days before my mother passed away, a former pupil of her came to see her.
She wasn't  a very close friend but a very caring person. She had given it much thought what to bring as a little present. She knew my mother had been very  simple all her life, always caring more for others than for herself! But, she was woman, too- even when now bold from chemo-therapies, full of medicine, and in bed. And she cried with joy and happiness about a beautifully smelling little luxery soap-bar from Dior and the thoughtfullness of her student to bring her something so special!
She  would never have thought of buying this  herself of course, considering it too much of luxury!
I will never forget this kind gesture!

That lady didn't know that one of my mother's favourtite books was

Paul Gallico’s ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris’

which is about a very very couragous little cleaning lady from London, who has a dream : one day to be able to get a dress from Dior! If you don't know it yet...it is really worth reading!
It is such a sweet story, with a lot of humor and a lot of life-experience!
That;s why the little soap was so special!

  1. Was für eine hübsche Geschichte. Ich habe in dem einen Auge eine Träne und doch muss ich schmunzeln. Ja Mütter, die sind schon speziell.
