Update , please read! A big THANK YOU for SHARING TRICKS AND METHODS !!!Can you smell the bread? Have a look at Mels Miniatures at http://www.melsminiatures.blogspot.com/
It was my mistake not to read exactly what Melanie with her delicious mini food and scenes had posted about her technique on using hairspray in order to get the flour nicely stuck to her bread....and I had to try that out! It sounded like a great idea!!!
So this is the whole post leading to my contact with Melanie, and I really want to apologize to Chris from Canada ,because it was my fault not mentioning her! I hope writing this , it is ok now!!!
....................................
.If you're worried about bugs which I am, I use grated chalk for my
flour.
Hugs,
Melanie

This reminds me of someone asking what I used for soil in my plants. The
answer was soil, sifted through a tea strainer. For flour I use sifted
flour stuck to a thin film of Elmer's adhesive spray or a cheap
extra-hold hairspray.
...................................................................
Her wonderfull work can be seen here http://www.picturetrail.com/ gallery/view?username=nitfiend
The hairspray worked wonderfully and I wrote to Melanie about that, also asking for her Ok for mentioning her idea here . She wrote back ever so nicely and here i am with Melanie as new follower (Thank you so much, I am thrilled...again!!) and pictures of the beginning of a new scene- most probably it will turn into a wall of an old house with a mystery garden!
As you can see...i didn't bake bread, but found a dollhouse-window which I painted "Old" and had not yet found what to do next! then a friend brought an old plastic-fan ! Pieces of the fan are now in the window-openings and were sprayed with hairspray and then covered with "colour-dust"! I had been breaking my mind to find a method to paint these pieces in order to get them just as they look now....that's when Melanie appeared! I was so excited about the "sucess" that I forgot evrything around me and the food (yes, normal life has to go on at the same time!) nearly got burned! Have a look!I didn't manage to cut all pieces evenly...but a little twig or piece of flower or wood will cover later where-ever needed!

a new little LITTLETHING (never throw away anything!)
sudden ideas sometimes come up...a friend brought me a lot of empty aluminium "tea-lights/candles" ( in German we call them "teelicht"). and then i found an old hairbrush where all pieces came off (used it for the "feet") ...and there you are: a little dollpram! easy and quickly to make ( oh, i still haven't learned to be patient!!), cut 2, put some glue, push one into the other, let dry, stick paper/cloth or whatever, with a nail one can easily make little holes, push the "feet" into it, and ready! From a little left-over, I tried to make a little pot. It works, but needs some improvement...:)

It is not christmas (yet) ...but this is just great! "Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus "
Many of you might have seen this, but I had been looking for something nice to share ...having to do with a "bridge" as a symbol to contacts through this blog-world! But the "bridge" turned into a flashmob singing! Well, isn't it a bit similar to all the fantastic contacts and friends one can -like a sudddenly appearing flashmob- make through sharing a hobby and some thoughts? A special Greeting to BRASIL and Eliana for her sweet words!
Ps. The song "I believe I can fly" is also very nice...but a bit melancholical music...I wanted something more cheerfull!
Have a great day, afternoon, night, morning where-ever over the world everybody might be right now!

SUMMER CINEMA! PLEASE READ THE NEXT POST FIRST...there is a reason! George Dalaras, Loukianos, Alexiou, Parios - Ta Therina Cinema - Τα θερι...
Our best of years go by
so hastily
youth going by
not ever to come back
and all I see
remaining at the end
Is some nights of full moon
in the summer cinemas
nights going by
never to come back
with flowers smelling in the air
and jasmine.
Our best of years go by
someone robs us of them secretly
years going by
not ever to came back
and all I see
remaining at the end
Is some nights of full moon
in the summer cinemas
nights going by
never to come back
with flowers smelling in the air
and jasmine.

Cinema construction stages-Sinema yapım aşamaları! Wellcome to a very special miniaturist from Turkey! Please meet http://ozdenceyhan.blogspot.com/
Mr Özden Cezhan with his wonderfull blog, full of interesting miniature and many many tutorials joined my blog today, after I had discovered his some hour earlier and couldn't stop admiring ! First I thought it is wonderfull to see a man working with miniatures, which is not so often.. and the second reason for joining the followers on his blog was the miniature OPEN-AIR-CINEMA! This is something so nice and magic, watching a movie open-air on a warm summer-night! It was something magical to me when I first came to Greece and i love it ever since! There are still some of these summer-cinemas and if you come to Greece (or Turkey :) ) do find out the whereabouts and enjoy yourselves with this special treat! Also good to know if you don;t speak the local language, all movies are in the original language with subtitles for Greek! So , there is nothing standing in your way to enjoy! I think it is also so nice to get a picture of the traditions and special sides of countries through minatures!
There is a nice older song about the summer cinemas here, a bit melancholic..about youth and years going by too quickly, but some memories will never fade and a very beautifull is the memory of a night with fullmoon at a summer-cinema with the smell of jasmin and night-flowers!

Something nice for all of you! AND : Wellcome to Sylvia with her wonderfull blog ( and work of course ) http://miniaturasnatasylvia.blogspot.com/
For some time now I had been thinking to share a little "THANK YOU" to all of you. These are old pictures of the family of my Grandfather and Grandmother from Germany, somewhere around 1900-1920 .
This might be my Grandmother in her very young years |
Thank you so much for showing interest in my LITTLETHINGS! I feel I have soooooooooooo much to learn and to study, in order to do some more beautiful things! Looking at Sylvia's Blog and her nice work on photos ,too, I had the idea to share some old family-photos with all of you! They might be perfect for you to use in dollhouses and roomboxes refering to the time nearly 100 years ago! So, please feel free to copy and use!
